Perry's Cafe 475 N. Magnolia, El Cajon, CA 5/27/2019 Around 1:15pm

It’s Memorial Day. We’re feeling thankful to the brave Men and Women that have preserved our freedoms and our way of life.
We dropped in to Perry’s Cafe in beautiful El Cajon, California, to see what the buzz is all about.
The coffee is on point. The cups are refilled at 33% empty.
We both ordered the Rib Eye Steak and Eggs.
Hers: over easy with medium rare steak and sourdough toast. Tomatoes instead of potatoes.
Mine:
Same; medium well. With Hash Browns.
Waters were brought to the table. The server asked if we would like water first. We like that they’re conserving water.
While we’re waiting for the food to be prepared, this is a cute little place. 12 booths and a bar with like 12 seats.
We were seated right away; no waiting in a line around the block.
NOTE: It turns out there is a back room with more booths. They get busy here, no doubt.
Very cozy and comfortable place to eat. We can hear the kitchen and employees quietly talking, but not in an intrusive way.
The music playing is exclusively hits from the ‘50s. We like the vibe here.
The food came fast.
Awesomely fast.
Nadine is happy enough to stop talking and only communicate with gestures, ecstatic facial expressions and various moans.
My breakfast is perfect. Huge portions, delicious, perfectly done Steak, Hash Browns and Eggs.
Seriously. This is a good Family Restaurant. Were coming back.
More than a few customers came in to be greeted by name and proceeded to their favorite booth.
I’m sure there are many more happy, regular customers.
Nadine told me that the Men’s restroom needs soap. (?)

If that’s the main complaint for our delicious Memorial Day Breakfast, I’m happy.
We had a choice, and almost went to a larger, more hip restaurant, like Breakfast Republic, The Mission etc, but this place has more hipness than any of those places. You just don’t see it from the street. It’s inside of these walls, that have been here for over 40 years, and will continue doing business here well after those other restaurants change their names, looking for that elusive demographic that will make them the most money. Here, they know their base and their base eats here on the daily.
If you like it when The Hits of the ‘50s Keep on Coming, getting giant portions of perfectly cooked food, and realizing your favorite restaurant has been, and will remain awesome in an understated way for the foreseeable future, check out Perry’s. I’m pretty sure you’ll like it.
Side Note:
Green Tabasco Sauce.
They have it.
